The aim: an introduction to the Deloitte Audit Approach for new graduates to the firm from across NZ.
The result: Time will tell…
What you really want to know: What happens when you get graduates from all around NZ together for a week… Perhaps I should first set the scene. We arrive at Stamford Plaza in the heart of the big smoke and get a taste of what it is to live life like financial high fliers. Playing “who had the busiest week” politely in the lifts and discussing the humidity became routine in the Stamford elevators as we stepped out into the CBD and crossed the road to what would become “home” for the week- the luxurious Auckland Deloitte building. The glass revolving door will no doubt later remind us of the circular routine working life boasts… But for now, being young, energetic and in the “honeymoon phase” of wearing heels, it just adds to the atmosphere.
Like true financial high fliers, the 8.30-5pm time frame was a mere “guideline”. Training with the Deloitte graduates from around NZ provided some much appreciated diversity. The Dunedin office graduate, in particular, ensuring all graduates “have fun and celebrate” during the audit simulation! Highlights from the week included the food, the teamwork, the panoramic views of Auckland harbour from the office bathrooms, and “that” Thursday night… Out on the town with a bunch of accountants, possibly one of the most entertaining groups to observe (OK join) on the d-floor.
I’ll keep you updated with the grad-life so keep an eye out …
Cheers, Lucy
